Lugt family
Lugt was a Dutch Mennonite family, found from about 1600 at Aalsmeer, province of North Holland. From about 1700 they were shipbuilders and tar brokers and later in insurance at Amsterdam; by the 1950s some of them were lawyers or bankers. This family has produced two preachers: Pieter Evert Lugt (b. 10 January 1841, at Amsterdam, d. 1 June 1908, at Amersfoort, married to Welmoet Tideman), who served at Noordeinde van Graft 1865-1871, Noordbroek and Nieuw-Scheemda 1871-1874, IJlst 1874-1878, and Winterswijk 1878-1908; and Paul J. Lugt, b. 1916, pastor of Wieringen 1941-1945.
