Snyder, Elvin Valores (1900-1985)
Elvin Snyder: missionary, was born 1 April 1900 near Breslau, Ontario to Ozias and Barbara Snyder. Elvin Snyder studied at Toronto Bible College (1925), Goshen College (BA, 1927), and Southwest Texas State Teachers College (MA, 1952). He married Mary Adah Fretz in 1928 and, after her death in 1974, married Esther Brunk Fadner in 1978.
Snyder served in a wide variety of mission projects, including those in Toronto (1922-25); Canton, Ohio (1927-28); Trenque Lauquen, America, and Carlos Casares, Argentina (1928-47); Chicago (1947-49); Lost Creek, Kentucky (1949-50); Mathis, Texas (1950-53); Puerto Rico (1953-65): and Corpus Christi, Texas (1966-67). In his later years he taught in the Spanish department at Eastern Mennonite College (1971-73) and provided pastoral leadership to the Milwaukee Mennonite Church (1973-75). Snyder served variously as an orphanage director, language instructor, Bible institute director, editor and pastor. He died 6 December 1985.
