Jan Grendel, an Anabaptist martyr, was born at Kortrijk (Courtrai), Belgium, came from Oudewater to Goes, Dutch province of Zeeland, in 1562. He was arrested the day after his arrival and put to death after a long imprisonment, the execution taking place before Easter 1563. Neither the exact date nor the manner of execution is known, nor are any other particulars about him known.
