White Chapel Mennonite Church (Glendive, Montana, USA)
The Little White Chapel Mennonite Church, Glendive, Montana, USA, began in January 1949 as a Sunday school. The early participants were former families at the Red Top Mennonite Church in Bloomfield, Montana, who had moved to Glendive. The group met in a building that was moved to Glendive and dedicated on 12 June 1949. The group organized more formally on 18 September 1949.
The Little White Chapel joined the North Central Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC) in 1951. In 1959 about a third of the congregation left to join the Assembly of God Church. In about 1975/76, the church's name was shortened to White Chapel Mennonite Church.
When the First Mennonite Church of Glendive divided in 1979, a number of its former members joined White Chapel. This led to crowding, so the larger congregation added an auditorium in 1986. The congregation also joined the Northern District of the General Conference Mennonite Church in 1986.
When the Northern District of the General Conference became part of the new Central Plains Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA in 2000, White Chapel retained membership only in the North Central Conference. In July 2015 the North Central Conference of the Mennonite Church voted to withdraw as an area conference from Mennonite Church USA. It was unhappy with Mennonite Church USA's failure to take stronger disciplinary actions against area conferences and congregations that expressed openness to the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons. The North Central Conference dissolved in June 2017. In 2018 White Chapel Mennonite Church joined the Central Plains Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
In 2023 the congregation remained part of the Central Plains Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
