Spaans family

Spaans, a Dutch Mennonite family, since the 17th century found at Barsingerhorn, where some of its members served as deacons. Simon Spaans (1873-1944) of Barsingerhorn, educated at the university and the Mennonite seminary at Amsterdam, was pastor at Goes-Vlissingen 1899-1907, Enkhuizen 1907-17, and Assen-Stadskanaal 1917-39, in which year he retired. He published some sermons and a paper, Het Christologische in de Catechese (Assen, 1927).
