Daniel Schlabach: minister of the Sharon Mennonite Church at Guernsey, Saskatchewan; born near Nappanee, Indiana on 23 March 1888 and died at Brooks, Alberta, on 13 September 1982. On 13 February 1913 he was married to Annie Schultz. They had three sons and one daughter. Annie (Schultz) Schlabach died on 11 September 1941, and on 23 June 1945 Daniel Schlabach married Ethel Morgan Mitchell.

Daniel Schlabach's parents were members of the Old Order Amish Church. Daniel's mother died when he was four years old. His father married a second time, and in 1896 the family moved to Noble County, Minnesota, near Fulda. Three years later the family moved to Petersburg, Ontario in Waterloo County. There Daniel was baptized and became a member of the Poole Amish Mennonite Church in 1903. In the fall of 1911 he came west and lived in the vicinity of Guernsey, Saskatchewan, that fall and winter. In 1912 he found work at Herbert, Saskatchewan, but returned to Ontario that fall, where he married Annie Schultz in February of 1913.

Daniel and Annie Schlabach returned to the Herbert district later in 1913, but moved to their own homestead near Divide, Saskatchewan, in 1914. They lived there until 1918 when the family moved to Regina where Daniel worked on a dray until the spring of 1920 when they moved back to Guernsey, Saskatchewan.

The Sharon Mennonite Church ordained Daniel Schlabach as a minister in the congregation on 8 September 1940. He had a keen interest in Sunday School throughout his life, and served the Guernsey congregation as a minister until the fall of 1949 when the Schlabach family moved to Ontario, buying a home in the Vineland district. They moved again, this time to Duchess, in the mid-1950s. As a minister ordained for life Daniel Schlabach was expected to serve in whatever Mennonite church he was a member. Daniel's Schlabach's many moves explain why his funeral was held in the Duchess Mennonite Church, but he was buried in the Sharon Mennonite cemetery at Guernsey, Saskatchewan.
