Schermer family
Schermer, a Mennonite family at Wormerveer, Dutch province of North Holland, members of the Frisian congregation (Wormerveer op't Noord). Cornelis Schermer of Wormerveer was a Mennonite preacher of Den Ilp 1770-1780, Hindeloopen (Nieuwekerk) 1780-1790, and Uithoorn-Aalsmeer 1790-1804. His son Klaas Schermer (d. 31 December 1854), trained for the ministry by his father, served as preacher in the Wormerveer op't Noord congregation 1800-1849. Lucas Schermer, a merchant at Wormerveer, was a representative to the national Dutch parliament meeting at The Hague in 1796.
