The Kleyn Hoorns Liet-boeck was formerly one of the most popular Dutch Mennonite hymnals. It derives its name from the town of Hoorn, where the first editions were printed and published. Its first editor was Jan Jansz Deutel. Most of the hymns found in this book are borrowed from older Dutch hymnbooks. It contains 30 Psalms in the rhymed version by Dathenus, 15 Lofsanghen, 106 Gheestelycke Liedekens. Then follow an Aenhangsel (supplement) of 21 hymns (former edition 11), 't Vermeerdert Aenhangsel of 33 Stichtelycke Gesangen (previous editions had 61). The 1736 and following editions add a Nieuw Aenhangsel of 5 Stichtelycke Gesangen. The earliest edition extant in the 1950s was that of 1644-1645, but there were some older editions. Schagen (Naamlijst der Doopsgezinde schrijveren) mentions editions of 1630, 1638, and 1661, of which no copy seems to be extant. The [[Amsterdam Mennonite Library (Bibliotheek en Archief van de Vereenigde

Doopsgezinde Gemeente te Amsterdam)|Amsterdam Library ]]has editions of 1644-1645, 1649, 1657, and 1685, all printed at Hoorn, 1736 at Amsterdam, and 1814 at Sneek. Besides these Blaupot ten Cate (Holland II, 212) lists editions of 1656, 1661 and 1685, all printed at Amsterdam. The 1814 edition was printed for the congregation of Balk, Friesland, who used this hymnal until a large part of the congregation immigrated to the United States in 1853-1854; in the Uiterweg Oude Vermaning (old church) of Aalsmeer the Kleyn Hoorns Liet-boeck was used until 1862. A copy of an edition of 1646, bound with Twee korte Vermaen Brieven van wijlen Dirck Gerritsz which contains some songs by Gerritsz and was published in 1648 is found in the Mennonite Library and Archives, North Newton, (Kansas, USA).
