Goethals family

Goethals, a Mennonite family which emigrated from Flanders, Belgium, to the Netherlands about 1630, and joined the congregation of Aardenburg and Middelburg. The martyrs Joos (Joost) Goethals and Barbelken Goethals, both executed at Ghent, Belgium, in 1569 and 1590, may have been members of this family.
