Bruin family
Bruin, sometimes also spelled Bruyn, is a common Dutch family name, especially in the province of North Holland. Some members of a Mennonite branch were ministers: Claas Bruin; Pieter Bruin, who served de Rijp from 1717 to about 1771; Gijsbert Bruin, preacher of Noordeind van Graft en Rijp from 1730 to about 1778; Willem Bruin, two of whose sons also went into the ministry: Jan Bruin, serving IJlst in 1818-1827 and Koog-Zaandijk in 1827-1858, and Pieter Bruin, serving Noordeind van Graft in 1824-1861. There were several other Mennonite preachers with this name.
