The congregation started as a daughter congregation of the Brooksville Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Fifty-nine members of Brooksville, including one pastor and one deacon, joined the new congregation.
The Brook Haven congregation cooperates with Brooksville in the Countryside Christian School.
