Aelken Jansdochter, an Anabaptist martyr of the Hague, was married to Simon Diericx, a turner of Middelburg in the Dutch province of Zeeland, and about 37 years of age. She was rebaptized in Middelburg and because she "persisted," that is, would not forsake her faith, she was burned at the stake there in 1569. The exact date is not known, although it was presumably 2 May.
