Mahieu Antheunis (Antoine), called Dupla, an Anabaptist martyr. Van Braght names him after his home and birthplace Mahieu van Halewijn, a village in the Belgian province of Flanders. He was imprisoned, and the authorities tried all sorts of means to dissuade him from his belief. But these efforts were without results. On 18 February 1559 he was burned at the stake at Kortrijk (Courtrai) in Belgium with Jelis (Gilles) de Groot. His possessions were confiscated. An investigation carried out in his house at Halewijn by the prosecutor revealed that Mahieu owned Mennonite books (we are not informed what books they were) and an extensive correspondence.
