Shady Lane Hutterite Colony was founded in 1993 as a division from the Barrickman Hutterite Colony.

A daughter colonies of the Shady Lane Hutterite Colony is the Harmony Hutterite Colony (Rathwell, Manitoba, Canada).

In 2023 Shady Lane Colony was a Schmiedeleut Group 1 colony.
