Hilversum is a town (1953 population 91,967, with 1,093 Mennonites; 2007 population 83,640) in the Dutch province of North Holland, the seat of a Mennonite congregation, formerly at Huizen (see this article, where its history is found until 1878). In 1878 a new meetinghouse was built in Hilversum (dedicated 30 June by Pastor A. Loosjes of Amsterdam) and the congregation was named Huizen-Hilversum, since 1945 being called Hilversum. The congregation rapidly increased: membership 40 in 1878; 225 in 1897; 500 in 1926; 600 in 1940; 780 in 1955. The meetinghouse was completely rebuilt and greatly enlarged in 1940. In 1908 the members of Hilversum living at Baarn and Bussum founded Mennonite circles, which have since grown into independent congregations.

Preachers of the congregation since it moved its seat from Huizen to Hilversum were (until 1885 vacant) I. H. Boeke 1885-1893, J. S. Pekema 1894-1904, F. Dijkema 1905-1907, P. Oosterbaan 1907-1938, A. L. Broer from 1938. Activities in the 1950s were Sunday school for children, young members' group, ladies' circle, church choir, mission committee.
