Lenaerdt Boeckbinder (16th century)
Lenaerdt (Lenart) Boeckbinder (Leenaert van Antwerpen) was a Dutch Anabaptist sent out as an apostle in the fall of 1533 by Jan Matthijsz van Haarlem. He was a native of Antwerp, Belgium, and was active in preaching and baptizing in a number of towns; in early 1534 at Gorichem; in the fall of 1534 at Zierikzee and Schiedam; in December 1534 at Delft and Rotterdam, and shortly thereafter in Antwerp. He is likely identical both with the Lenaert van Kampen who is said to have been the leader of a congregation of 400 members in the town of Kampen, Dutch province of Overijssel, and with Lenaert van Emden. He must have been an influential member of the revolutionary branch of Anabaptism. After December 1534 all trace of him is lost.
