Swart family name

Swart, a common Dutch family name. A Mennonite Swart family has lived on the Dutch island ofTerschellingsince the 17th century, many of whose members have served the Terschelling congregation as deacons, the last being A. G. Swart and Tjebbe Swart, the latter serving until 1953.

Rindert Swart (Haarlem, 1890-Hindeloopen, 1929) was educated at the Amsterdam Universityand the Mennonite Seminaryand served the congregations of Hindeloopen-Koudum in 1916-1919.
