Michael Grossmann, a Hutterite and writer of hymns, a cobbler by trade, was sent to Prussia in 1602 with Josef Hauser. When he returned to Moravia he was chosen preacher for the Neumühl brotherhood, 1 February 1604, and ordained on 5 February 1606; then he was made elder at Austerlitz, and died 4 Apri 1634, at Sobotište. He is the author of the hymn, "Mich hat die Lieb gedrungen sehr," which contains his name in an acrostic.
