Ruhlemann Friedrich Eylert, born 5 April 1770, died 3 February 1852, was Lutheran bishop and court chaplain at Potsdam, Prussia, and spiritual counselor of Frederick William III of Prussia. Eylert (Magdeburg, 1844). Unfortunately the partly imaginary tale of the Mennonite youth who took part in the Wars of Liberation (1813-1815) and was consequently excommunicated for violation of the principle of nonresistance furnished the material for Wildenbruch's drama Der Menonit.
