Sijntgen van Gelder (Cynken in Offer) an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake on 21 July 1562, at Ghent in Flanders, Belgium. Her official name probably was Josynken (Srijnken) Cruels, born at Kortrijk in Flanders; she was the widow of Adriaen Brave. These details have been published by Verheyden, who also found in the records both the exact date and the manner of her execution, not mentioned in Offer and van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror. Four other women were put to death with Sijntgen, namely, Vijntgen, Goudeken, Janneken de Joncheere, and Betgen van Maldegem. These women are commemorated in the hymn "Als men schreef duyst vijfhondert jaer ende twee en tsestich mede," found in the Lietboecxken.
