Martin (Maerten) van der Straten (Straeten), was an Anabaptist martyr, born about 1534 at Kortrijk (Courtrai) in Flanders, was burned at the stake at Ghent, Belgium, on 4 December 1572. His wife, Beliken de Jaghere also died as a martyr at Ghent on 17 March 1573. Martin had received baptism on his faith at Middelburg, in the Dutch province of Zeeland.
