The Beaver Run Mennonite Church near Turbutville, Pennsylvania, began in October 1953 as a mission outreach of the Stumptown congregation of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference. Daniel Leaman served as the first superintendent of the Sunday school launched there after holding Summer Bible School there in the summer in a tent on the California School grounds.
The Stumptown congregation donated about 400 hours of labor to remodel the abandoned one-room Beaver Run schoolhouse that was used for services beginning 25 October 1953. Stumptown also helped to finance and build a new meetinghouse for the Beaver Run congregation that was dedicated on 17 March 1956.
In 1967, Beaver Run helped form the Agape Fellowship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where a number of young Mennonite men were performing their I-W Service.
Beaver Run Mennonite Church changed its name in 1990 to Community Mennonite Fellowship as it was planning to build a new church near an exit of Interstate 80. About 37 members left to become members of a new Beaver Run Mennonite Church of Limestoneville. This group also became part of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference. This second Beaver Run congregation, which met in the earlier meetinghouse, appeared to close in the early 2000s.
Community Mennonite Fellowship began a Hispanic church in Summer 2002 that met for three years in Community Mennonite's building under the leadership Joe Rosa. That group purchased a building in New Columbia and continued as Congregación Menonita Shalom.
