Johannes Rieger (Rieckher, Rücker), a Hutterite (see Hutterian Brethren) preacher 1648/49-1662, then Vorsteher until 1687. He took part in the negotiations with Elector Charles Louis of the Palatinate in 1654 regarding the establishment of a Bruderhof in Mannheim, with the archbishop of Gran in 1674-1676, and with the Hungarian Stadholder Georg Szelepcsenye; his co-worker and successor was Johannes Milder. On 20 April 1665, in the name of the brotherhood in Lower Hungary, he wrote a letter to the Dutch Mennonite congregations requesting financial aid. His letter of thanks for the gift received, sent from Sobotiste, is now in the archives of the Amsterdam Mennonite Church. Another Johannes Rieger was a deacon in 1616-1620.
