Neu Marsau (also known as Nowe Marze, Klein Marzy, Smarze, Neu-Marsau, Neumarsau; now known as Nowe Marzy; coordinates: 53.46189, 18.618478 [53° 27′ 42″ N, 18° 37′ 6″ E]; population in 1905, 194; in 2013, 160) is located approximately 7 kilometres (4 miles) south-west of Dragacz (Dragaß), 16 km. (10 miles) east of Świecie (Schwetz), and 49 km. (30 miles) north of Toruń (Thorn).
The earliest mention Neu Marsau dates back to circa 1640, when Dutch Mennonites settled in the area. Until 1772 Neu Marsau was located in what was known as Royal Prussia (also known as Polish Prussia) in the Kingdom of Poland. The First Partition of Poland in 1772 resulted in the creation of a new province on 31 January 1773, called West Prussia, in which Neu Marsau was located. Neu Marsau was situated in the district (Kreis) of Schwetz in Regierungsbezirk Marienwerder until the end of World War I, when it came under the jurisdiction of the Pomeranian Voivodeship of the Second Polish Republic. Neu Marsau came under the control of Nazi Germany during World War II until March 1945, when it was occupied by Soviet forces and returned to Poland. In 2013 Nowe Marzy was a village in the administrative district of Gmina Dragacz, within Świecie County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The Prussian census of 1776 lists five Mennonite families in Marsau with the following surnames: Adrian, Ewert, Frantz, and Kliewer.
Mennonites who were residents of Neu Marsau were members of the Montau-Gruppe Mennonite Church.
