When Dale Schertz, the last long-serving pastor, retired in 1996, the small congregation decided to close. The building was given to what in 2023 was called the Victorious Life Assembly of God.

The Zion Mennonite Church, Goodland, Indiana, USA, began in 1895 when the David Augspurger family moved from Aurora, Nebraska, to Jasper County, Indiana. They were soon joined by other families, including, Nafzigers, Sommers, Engles, and Simonins from Illinois.

David Augspurger, already an ordained minister, organized Sunday school in 1895 as well as worship services. Initially, the small group met in the Bowdy schoolhouse. In 1898 the congregation erected a meetinghouse. In 1959 the church added classroom space and a kitchen; it dedicated the renovated building on 13 September 1959.

When Dale Schertz, the last long-serving pastor, retired in 1996, the small congregation decided to close. The building was given to what in 2023 was called the Victorious Life Assembly of God.
