Rupp Gellner (Kern) was one of the Anabaptists of the Lower Rhine living around Kreuznach and Worms known as the Swiss Brethren, who, dissatisfied with the doctrine and life of these brethren, went to Moravia to join the Hutterian Brethren after the Hutterite apostle Hans Schmidt had given them a copy of a Rechenschaft of seven articles (Geschicht-Buch, 272-277). This union took place in 1556. Rupp Gellner was chosen preacher 8 January 1568 at Nembschitz. On 17 January 1572, he was ordained in the service of the Gospel. He died at an advanced age, 17 March 1608 at Frischau. In his last years he had become too weak to fill his office.
