Maeyken Trams, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Bruges, Belgium, on 11 December 1561. She was one of a group of members of the Bruges congregation who had been apprehended on 10 November 1561, when they were holding a meeting in a house outside the town. Five of them suffered martyrdom on 10 December; the other seven, including Maeyken, were executed on the next day. These martyrs are celebrated in the hymn "Genade ende vrede moet Godvresende zijn" (Mercy and peace should be to the God-fearing), found in the Dutch hymnal Veelderhande Liedekens of 1569, reproduced by Wackernagel. This hymn has been the principal source for the account in the martyrbooks. In the records she is called Maykin, wife of Bertram de Raedt, born at Wynne in Flanders. In the index to the 1685 Dutch edition of van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror she is listed as Maeyken Frans, but this must be an error.
