Weischenfelder, Hans (d. 1528)
Hans Weischenfelder, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Bamberg, Bavaria, on 30 January 1528, with Endres Weiss, Else Koch, Margaret Petz, and Katharina Rosner. Weischenfelder was a miller of Uetzing, Upper Franconia, Germany. In his cross-examination he said that he was on his way to Moravia to join the Hutterites, that he was baptized by Hans Hut, and made brief statements on some points of doctrine, such as the sacraments. But instead of going to Moravia he stayed behind at Passau "to tend the flock" there. In March 1527, under pressure, he turned against Hut and testified that Hut had been guilty of revolutionary teachings, although Mertain Weischenfelder and others denied this.
