Unruh, Annie Enns (1900-1972)
Born at Hoffnungsfeld, MB (near Winkler), to John and Aganetha Wiens Enns, Annie Enns Unruh (17 March 1900-21 August 1972) was a missionary in India for 32 years (1935-67). Having completed a Normal School education and one year at Winkler Bible School, she taught for seven years in public schools near Winkler. She married Abram A. Unruh (21 October 1926) and became the mother of five children: Peggy (m. Walter Regehr), Kathryn (m. Robert Des Roches), Helen (m. Oscar Epp), Louise (m. George Block), and Donald (m. Margie Unruh). All the children attended British, and later American, boarding schools in India. Serving with her husband at Gadwal, Wanaparty, Nagarkurnool, and Shamshabad, Annie Unruh was uniquely gifted in a ministry to women and was an effective teacher, readily winning the confidence of students who came for counsel.
