Ubbens family

Ubbens, a Mennonite family of Sappemeer, Netherlands, many of whom have served the local congregation as lay preachers; e.g., Meerten Ubbens (Obbes) (1676-1736), time of serving unknown, his son Ubbo Meertens (1703-82), serving 1733-79, his grandson Meerten Ubbens (Obbes) (1726-86), serving from 1784 until his death. In 1811 their descendants adopted the official family name of Ubbens.
