Sierra Valley Christian Fellowship (Beckwourth, California, USA)

The Sierra Valley Christian Fellowship, Beckwourth, California, USA began as a colonization outreach of the Mennonite Christian Fellowship. The aim was to establish a congregation practicing conservative Anabaptist values, and to serve as a point of reference for seekers in the western USA. Rod and Staff publications were used in home schooling in California, and a greater presence was thought to be desirable.

Several delegations went to California in 1995, and Beckwourth was chosen as a mission location. Several ministers, including Titus Graber, Ernest Rissler and Cletus Graber, visited the area for periods of time. A remodeled building on the property was completed in late 1996, and the church was formally established in December 1996. As the church grew, a new church and school building was completed in 2000.

In the long term, the location was not fruitful, and in 2008 the nucleus of the fellowship relocated one hour north to help form the Diamond View Mennonite Church. The membership in 2007 was 30.
