Schenk family
Schenk, a Mennonite family found at Wormerveer, Dutch province of North Holland, since the 16th century, and formerly belonging to the Frisian congregation. In the 18th century some members of this family were adherents of the Collegiant movement, particularly Jan Gerrit Schenk (d. 25 June 1760, at Wormerveer), who in 1726-52 repeatedly addressed the Collegiant meetings at their center at Rijnsburg. He also contributed liberally to the building of the large brick baptismal tub at Rijnsburg in 1736 (for baptism by immersion as practiced by the Collegiants) and bequeathed 40,000 Dutch guilders to the general fund of the Collegiants for the maintenance of the buildings at Rijnsburg.
