Osterwick (also known as Osterwiek; now known as Ostrowite; coordinates: 54.2023, 18.7275 [54° 12′ 08″ N, 18° 43′ 38″ E]; population in 1905, 456; in 2012, 105) is located approximately 3 kilometres (2 miles) south-west of Suchy Dąb, 10 km. (6 mi.) south-east of Pruszcz Gdański (Praust), 17 km. (11 mi.) south of the regional capital Gdańsk (Danzig), and 25 km. (16 mi.) west of Nowy Dwór Gdański (Tiegenhof).

Osterwick was first mentioned in historical documents in 1292. In 1552, its privileges were renewed. Until 1793 Osterwick was part of Danzig in Royal Prussia (also known as Polish Prussia) in the Kingdom of Poland. The Second Partition of Poland in 1793 added Danzig and its surrounding territory to the province of West Prussia. Osterwick was situated in the district (Kreis) of Danzig from 1818 until 1887, when it became part of the district of Danziger Niederung. The village became part of the Free City of Danzig from 1920 until the outbreak of World War II in 1939, when it came under the control of Nazi Germany. In February 1945 it was occupied by Soviet forces and eventually returned to Poland. In 2012 Osterwick (now Ostrowite) in the administrative district of Gmina Suchy Dąb, within Gdańsk County, Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The 1793 Danzig census lists one Mennonite family in Osterwick, named Stangardt. It appears as though there were no Mennonite families living in Osterwick by 1820.

Mennonites who were residents of Osterwick were members of the Danzig Mennonite Church.
