Lucas-Filips-volk
Lucas-Filips-volk or Borstentasters was a name given to a group of Mennonites at Haarlem, Dutch province of North Holland. They were adherents of Lucas Filips (Philips), a preacher of the Old Flemish (Huiskoopers) congregation, meeting at the Helmbrekersteeg. In 1620 a quarrel arose between Filips and his co-preacher Vincent de Hondt, who was offended by Filips' defense of a young man who had behaved improperly with his fiancee and by Filips' refusal to "ban" the young man. De Hondt banned not only the young man, but also Filips and his adherents, who, however, kept the meetinghouse, though the minority of the members sided with Filips. The Vincent de Hondt group obtained a new meetinghouse elsewhere. The Lucas-Filips-volk died out soon after 1700.
