Königsdorf (Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland)
Königsdorf (also known as Königesdorf, Konysdorf, Koningisdorf, Groß Koningisdorf, Königsdorff, and Koenigsdorf; now known as Królewo; coordinates: 54.0454, 19.1421 [54° 2′ 43″ N, 19° 8′ 31″ E]; population in 1905, 354) is located approximately 6 kilometres (4 miles) north-east of Malbork (Marienburg), 19 km. (12 mi.) south of Nowy Dwór Gdański (Tiegenhof), 21 km. (13 mi.) south-west of Elbląg (Elbing), and 49 km. (30 mi.) south-east of the regional capital Gdańsk (Danzig).
Königsdorf was granted the Chełmno rights (Kulm Law, a legal constitution for a municipal form of government) in 1340 by Ludolf König von Wattzau, Grand Komtur of Marienburg (and later on, Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights). At that time the village had 40 włókas (718 hectares) of land. In 1485, the King Kazimierz IV Jagiellończyk (Casimir IV Jagiellon) renewed the rights. Until 1772 Königsdorf was located in what was known as Royal Prussia (also known as Polish Prussia) in the Kingdom of Poland. The First Partition of Poland in 1772 resulted in the creation of a new province in 1773, called West Prussia, in which Königsdorf was located. Königsdorf was situated in the district (Kreis) of Marienburg until the end of World War I, when it came under the jurisdiction of the German province of East Prussia. The village came under the control of Nazi Germany during World War II until February 1945, when it was occupied by Soviet forces and returned to Poland. In 2012 Königsdorf was a village in the administrative district of Gmina Stare Pole, within Malbork County, Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The 1776 Prussian census does not list any Mennonites in Königsdorf. In 1820, the Königsdorf (with Rothebude) had 317 residents, including 6 Mennonites.
Mennonites who were residents of Königsdorf were members of the Thiensdorf-Markushof Mennonite Church.
