Huber Mennonite Settlement (Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada)

Huber was a name used early in the nineteenth century for the Mennonite (Mennonite Church) settlement in Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada, near Lake Erie, where the Hoovers (Hubers) pioneered before 1800. The cemetery at the lake shore southeast of Selkirk village continued to be known as Huber far into the nineteenth century (see Rainham Mennonite Church). Preacher Jacob Swartz is recorded as buried at the Huber church in 1866.
