Feitema family

Feitema (Feytama), a former Dutch Mennonite family, from the 16th century found at Harlingen in Friesland, where Sibrand Ebes Feitema in the 17th century was the owner of a brickworks and other businesses. From the early 17th century this family was also found at Amsterdam, where they were outstanding businessmen and often deacons of the church. Jacob Yedes Feytama (d.1631) was a wealthy brewer here; his son Yede (Eduard) Feytama in 1616 married Elisabeth Willem-Gysbertsdochter, a sister of the Waterlander elder Reinier Wybrands Wybma. Sybrand Feytama (Amsterdam, 1694-1758) was in his day a noted poet and playwright.
