Cumberland Mountain Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Monterey, Tennessee, USA)
The Cumberland Mountain Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation near Monterey, Tennessee, USA was established in 1971. The congregation started when six members were baptized on 18 April 1971. They had been part of a group that had moved to the area from Snyder County, Pennsylvania, beginning in 1965 in the hope of establishing a more purely Biblical church. Although the group had made some contact earlier with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, it was not until 1971 that part of the group decided to be baptized into the Holdeman Church.
Congregations from Mississippi and Ohio helped the young church in its early years. In spring 1973, the group decided to build a meetinghouse. It was expanded in 1978.
The Monterey Mennonite School began in 1975.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Timothy Schrock and Bryan Koehn.
