Jan Cents (Centsz, Centsen), a Dutch Mennonite of Amsterdam, probably a deacon of the church, who with 13 other members of the Frisian and High German congregation at Amsterdam signed the Korte Confessie ofte Belijdenisse des Gheloofs, of 1630 (see Confessions). Jan Cents signed first; for this reason the confession was named the Jan Cents' Confessie. He may have been the author or planner of this confession. Of Jan Cents nothing further is known. He must have belonged to the well-known Centen family at Amsterdam.
