The Springs Mennonite Church began Sunday school and preaching services in the Black Hawk School north of Swanton, Maryland, near the Pennsylvania and West Virginia state borders, on 3 April 1938. The schoolhouse burned on 27 August 1939, so services were then held in the storeroom of a local store for several years.

A basement church was dedicated on 7 July 1942. A completed building was dedicated on 11 July 1948. Although initially known as the Black Hawk Mennonite Mission, with the new building, the congregation became the Meadow Mountain Mennonite Church. It affiliated with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Mennonite Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC).

In 2017, the Meadow Mountain congregation left the Allegheny Mennonite Conference and joined the Lancaster Mennonite Conference.

Meadow Mountain Mennonite Church (MC), Swanton, Maryland, had its beginning in 1938, when Sunday school and preaching services were begun in a school south of Grantsville. A brick church was constructed in 1948 under the Casselman Mennonite Church. In 1957 Roy L. Kinsinger was the minister of this congregation of 30 members.
