Bakels, Pieter Simon (1844-1921)

Pieter Simon Bakels (Deventer, 1844-Haarlem, 1921), educated at the Amsterdam Mennonite seminary, was a pastor at Hoorn on the island of Texel 1869-1876, Burg on Texel 1876-1889, and Koog-Zaandijk 1889-1907, in which year he retired. He was a trustee of the Algemene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit 1889-1908. Herman Bakels was his son. Another son was Reinier Sybrand Bakels (b. den Hoorn, 1873), a well-known painter of portraits and landscapes.
