In 1931 Mennonite worship services were held once a month at Abbott, a small town in northeastern New Mexico some 60 miles (96 km) south-southeast of Raton. That year the Mennonite Yearbook listed the congregation but gave no membership statistics. By 1937 the congregation was dropped from listing in the yearbook.

It was affiliated with the Missouri-Kansas Conference of the Mennonite Church. The conference supplied visiting preachers for the services.
