The Jamesport, Missouri Old Order Amish Settlement is located 75 mi. (140 km.) northeast of Kansas City. This Daviess County community was established in 1953 and was the first of the newer Missouri settlements. Cheap land and greater freedom in the education of their children have attracted the Amish to this area. The Jamesport community has become the largest of the 12 Missouri settlements. Six church districts (congregations) served approximately 1,200 Amish in this community in 1987.
