Jan Commes was a Dutch Mennonite preacher from about 1690 and elder of the congregation of Zwolle, province of Overijssel, from 1702. He was the author of a book against Jacobus Rijsdijk, who had also been a preacher at Zwolle. Against this ardent champion of Mennonite orthodoxy Commes wrote Den Veynzaart ontmaskert (Zwolle, 1729).
