Troyer, George D. (1890-1969)
George D. Troyer was a missionary physician in India (Madhya Pradesh, 1923-1936) and Puerto Rico (1944-1967) with Mennonite Board of Missions (Mennonite Church). He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, the last of 29 siblings. He was the only one in his family to attend college. He graduated from the Chicago Medical School in 1922. He married Kathryn Sommers on 12 July 1914. Their four children, B. Nortell Troyer, Dana O. Troyer, Annabelle Troyer Greaser, and G. Weldon Troyer, all served overseas with Mennonite Board of Missions. George and Kathryn had significant leadership roles in the development of Mennonite General Hospital and the Convención de las Iglesias Evangélicas Menonitas, Puerto Rico.
