The New Covenant Christian Fellowship began services and formally organized in 1995. Vidya and Gwen Narimalla are considered the founding leaders of the group. The congregation originated from outreach by the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Board of Church Extension.

In April 1996 New Covenant merged with the Yorkdale Community Church under New Covenant's name. The merged group meets at the Society of International Ministries Chapel in Scarborough. In 2001 the congregation merged with the Bridlewood Brethren in Christ Church to form the New Life Christian Church, the first congregation to belong both to the Brethren in Christ Church and the Mennonite Brethren Church.

Pastor Vidya Narimalla served from 1995-2001 as a congregational leader. In 1995 there were 16 members. The congregation had been affiliated with the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (1995-), the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and the General Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. The language of worship is English.
