Boekenoogen, Jan Gerrit (1856-1933)
Jan Gerrit Boekenoogen was a Dutch Mennonite minister, son of Lucas Fredrik Boekenoogen, b. 17 July 1856, at Wormerveer, d. 7 January 1933, at Bussum. He studied at the university and the Mennonite seminary in Amsterdam, became a ministerial candidate in 1880, and served the congregations of Wormer and Jisp (1881-1884), Hindeloopen (1884-1885) and Krommenie (1885-1922). He received the Th.D. degree at Amsterdam in 1884. Except for his doctoral dissertation, he published only a few sermons. He compiled a new catalog of the Mennonite literature in the Amsterdam Library, which was published in 1919. He was a member of the Teyler Theological Association at Haarlem and coeditor of Teyler's Theologisch Tijdschrift.
