The Iglesia Shalom-Nuevo Comienzo in Waynesboro, Virginia, began as a church plant led by the Southern District of the Virginia Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA. Armando and Veronica Sanchez led the church plant. The congregation formally joined the Virginia Mennonite Conference in 2024.

The congregation has met at the Waynesboro Mennonite Church.

Late in 2025, the congregation changed its affiliation from the Virginia Mennonite Conference to LMC: a Fellowship of Anabaptist Churches.
