Thunderbird Hutterite Colony was founded in 1964 (Hofer says 1963)[1] as a division from the Glendale Hutterite Colony (Frankfort, South Dakota, USA).

A daughter colony of the Thunderbird Hutterite Colony is the Brentwood Hutterite Colony (Norbeck, South Dakota, USA).

In 2025 the Thunderbird Hutterite Colony was a Schmiedeleut Group 1 colony.
