Hand Hills Hutterite Colony near Hanna, Alberta, was founded in 1957 (Hofer says 1956[1]) as a division from the MacMillan Hutterite Colony.

Daughter colonies of the Hand Hills Hutterite Colony include: Verdant Valley Hutterite Colony (Drumheller, Alberta, Canada); and Lone Pine Hutterite Colony (Botha, Alberta, Canada).

In 2024 the Hand Hills Hutterite Colony was a Lehrerleut colony.
